DAEP has built the world’s largest terminal, the world’s busiest airport, and executed thousands of projects. DAEP is a leading engineering organization responsible for the design, master planning, infrastructure development, and construction of Dubai’s dynamic aviation sector. This includes the massive US$32 billion new Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central. The two-phase development project will be completed in 2027 and will allow the airport to handle 120 million annual passengers. The new airport will become the world’s largest aviation facility and will have five runways that can all be simultaneously operational. Al Maktoum International Airport will be ten times the size of the present Dubai International Airport which today is the second busiest in the world covering a land area of 25 square miles.

CHALLENGE

With such broad responsibilities for the planning and construction of Al Maktoum International Airport, DAEP required a single web-based system that would facilitate collaboration, streamline processes, ensure transparency and provide real-time business intelligence with powerful report writing capabilities. In short, they needed an all-in-one centralized project control system for all stakeholders. Additionally, the system needed to be scalable to use across multiple aviation construction and renovation projects throughout Dubai, including Dubai International Airport.

SOLUTION

After an in-depth due diligence process, DAEP determined that the only solution that met all their criteria for managing the entire construction lifecycle was PMWeb. And with prior success with other major international airports such as Boston-Logan International and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, DAEP confidently chose PMWeb as their Project Management Info System. With the objective of providing project-wide accountability and transparency, PMWeb’s modular-based system was deployed in a local self-hosted environment by DAEP specifically for planning, procurement, cost management, engineering forms, document management, business intelligence reporting, and visual workflow automation.
