OVERVIEW
Dubai Parks & Resorts LLC (DPR), a subsidiary of Meraas Holding, the private property company of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice-President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, was designed as a mega leisure and entertainment destination to serve the regions that are within a four-hour flying distance from Dubai. Located at Jebel Ali, the first phase of Dubai Parks & Resorts was comprised of three theme parks: Motiongate Dubai, Bollywood Parks Dubai, and LEGOLAND® Dubai. The development also features Riverpark – a grand entrance plaza and Lapita, a family-themed hotel. The first phase was completed using PMWeb in 2016.
CHALLENGE
The DPR project has utilized construction professionals from 7 different companies to date: Gensler, Forrec, Laing O’Rourke, ARCO General Contracting, Hill International, Samsung C&T, and Cumming. The ability to manage, track, and control the information required for the various demands with manual systems was a daunting task for this project. A localized all in one system was needed to track, collaborate, and control the project.
SOLUTION
Meraas selected PMWeb as its web-based project control system. The sourcing and tracking of project information prior to PMWeb utilization was arduous and time-consuming at best and in some cases fruitless. PMWeb provides a single point of reference to track procurement activities, identify “roadblocks”, ensure authorized approvals are evidenced, and subsequently have a source of reference for the approved project documentation. The system also provides transparency and accountability where required, which is necessary for such a project.
RESULTS AND BENEFITS
PMWeb is being used in planning, day to day construction management, and procurements. engineering forms are being used for tracking Submittals, RFIs, Meeting Minutes, Daily Reports, and Shop Drawings allowing management and team members to collaborate and analyze progress reports. PMWeb is also being used for tracking Correspondence, Workflow, and Notifications to assist in online approval processes. Attachments were stored within records and are easily accessible with customizable security controls. Information gathered in one system creates the ability to generate powerful reports and offers users better collaboration, increased efficiency, and enhanced financial control throughout the duration of the project.
